After experiencing pregnancy loss and the stillbirth of a child, the hand-dyers behind Knitty Gritty Fiber Co decided to hand dye yarn in order to provide hand knit clothing for stillborn babies.  For every 5 skeins sold, they knit a hand-dyed hat to donate to NICUs throughout the country.

We were blown away by the beauty of the yarns, but our hearts are filled by their sweet mission.  

Knitty Gritty Bamboo is a breathtaking sport to dk weight bamboo/merino blend.  It's astoundingly soft, but the sheen is what sets it apart from other hand-dyed yarns.  It also has a lovely drape once worked up that you'll love in sweaters and accessories. It's absolutely luminous.  In rich, beautiful colors inspired by nature, this yarn will quickly become a favorite. This amazing variegated yarn is a soft and breatheable blend of superwash merino and linen.  The toughness, softness, and drape of linen combine flawlessly with the soft practicality of wool to make an easy care yarn that's ideal for just about anything.  We think it's a dream yarn for year round sweaters, but it would be stunning for shawls and scarves as well.  You'll really have to see and touch this one to understand how gorgeous it is!

Cricket is a single-ply authentic Donegal tweed yarn that knits up lighter than air! Cricket can be knit densely for creating colorwork that really pops, or loosely for an ethereal lightweight fabric for soft, next-to-skin wear. The 415 yard skein is ample, and many projects can be completed in a single skein.
