Patented design “Made in Germany” made from organic material
The patented design (patent pending) was created by Louise and Adrian Grieves, who presented their invention to us in 2025 at the h+h cologne craft fair. The addi team was immediately impressed, and so, together with the inventor, we developed a production process within a year. As a quality brand “Made in Germany”, it quickly became clear to us that we wanted to test alternative materials to conventional plastic. In consultation with our German manufacturer, we worked on a solution using the new, purely organic material “GC Green”, which offers the following advantages:
- Sunflower seed husks from the food industry are used as natural fibres – a waste product that is put to good use.
- The material can decompose under natural conditions without leaving behind microplastics.
- Processing at lower temperatures, resulting in lower energy consumption (up to approx. 20% savings).
- Lightweight thanks to low-density natural fibres.
Possibly the most versatile style of button - 8 Hole Buttons! There are many ways you can fill in the eight holes. The eight holes are left empty so that you can embroider them with your own needle and yarn or embroidery thread. You may want to use only one or two plies of the yarn to fill it in if it your yarn is super thick.
These buttons are 3/4". They come packaged as a card of 6 buttons.
These buttons can go in the washer and the dryer, but as with most things made of natural materials, they will probably last longer if they are hand washed or if the item is dried flat.
